Nov. 16, 2006 – Vail, Colo. – Mark Hickey, senior vice president of operations for Destination Hotels & Resorts, announced that Gregg Pate recently joined Vail Cascade Resort & Spa as managing director of the property. The Vail Cascade is Vail’s only AAA Four-Diamond ski-in, ski-out resort. Pate joined the property, which is managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006.

“I am incredibly proud and excited to have the opportunity to join Vail Cascade Resort & Spa,” said Pate. “The resort is already recognized as one of the top destinations for both leisure and business travelers. I look forward to working with the staff to continually maximize and grow every ounce of this world-class resort’s potential.”

Pate has a 29-year, progressive career in the hospitality industry, working his way up from assistant manager at the Stonebridge Inn in Snowmass, Colo., which is also managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts. Since then, Pate has served as general manager at multiple world-class properties including the Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort and Country Club in Colorado Springs, The Houstonian Hotel & Conference Center in Houston, Texas, and The Hilton Inn and Conference Center at Inverrary in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Prior to spending the last five years consulting in the hospitality industry, Pate served as president and chief operating officer for Barton Creek Resort and Country Club in Austin, Texas. During his 13 years leading the 295-room conference resort, private country club and four championship golf courses, Gregg also served as regional vice president for Club Resorts, a division of ClubCorp. His responsibilities included the Palmilla Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, Daufuskie Island in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Shangri-La in Afton, Okla.

“Gregg’s notable leadership and team building skills are the talents we will look to leverage in his new role at Vail Cascade Resort & Spa,” said George Fischer, vice president of Destination Hotels & Resorts and managing director of the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center in metro Denver. “We are thrilled to have someone with Gregg’s background and experience join our team.”

Gregg and his wife, Cathy, will be relocating from Llano, Texas to the Vail Valley.
