San Diego County, California (October 24, 2007) – As firefighters continue to diminish wildfires in San Diego County, hotels are opening their doors to those in need. L'Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa and Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, are among these hotels. Both are welcoming evacuees with highly discounted rates on rooms and meals, providing complimentary rooms to emergency personnel and housing displaced employees and their families.
We only wish we had more rooms and resources to accommodate more people,” said Michael Slosser, General Manager for both properties. “It is such a helpless feeling. Our primary focus is the safety and comfort of our guests and employees. This is about taking care of people.”
L'Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa is offering evacuees rooms at up to half off their normal rates and highly discounted buffet meal service, providing complimentary rooms to exhausted firefighters and city officials actively involved on the emergency response team, and housing displaced employees and their families. They have also set up a special Kids Space where children can play, watch movies, and enjoy games and kid-friendly snacks.
Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa has established a special evacuee rate of $99 per night. The hotel is also providing specially-priced buffet meals in their Adobe El Restaurant for those displaced by the wildfires. Additionally, the hotel is offering assistance to emergency personnel and their families, and displaced employees and their families.
