Destination Hotels & Resorts Named the Official Luxury Hospitality Partner of The American Alpine Club
Englewood, Colo. - June 22, 2009 - Charlie Peck, president and chief operating officer for Destination Hotels & Resorts, announced that the company is launching a strategic partnership with the American Alpine Club. As the official luxury hospitality partner of the AAC, organization members have access to special rates at Destination's more than 30 properties throughout the United States. In addition, Destination will help the nonprofit gain more visibility through placement of information on the hospitality company's Web site, including a series of AAC-recommended climbs near appropriate hotels and resorts in the collection.
"Our collection offers an array of lifestyle resorts in unique locations and we felt our customer demographic related to the outdoor spirit exuded by the members of the AAC," said Peck. "Partnership with the AAC makes great sense as many Destination properties are located near some of the country's best climbs and offer all outdoor enthusiasts great opportunities to experience nature."
In the coming months, Destination will post AAC-recommended climbs on its Web site for locations such as Vail Cascade in the Colorado Rockies and Resort at Squaw Creek in the Sierras. Desert climbs such as those in Joshua Tree National Park, not far from Miramonte Resort & Spa in Palms Springs also will be among the recommendations.
The philosophy of the AAC also is in synch with Destination's environmental sustainability program called Destination Earth which was developed in recognition of the need to preserve the world in which the company operates and serves its guests. Just as the AAC protects nature's playground around the globe, Destination is dedicated to practices and programs that pay respect to and lessen its footprint on the changing environment. Destination Hotels & Resorts recognizes that its customers, owners and associates all benefit from and desire a healthy, sustainable environment. As the company continues on the journey of environmental stewardship, it is committed to maintaining the superior guest experience that customers have come to expect while reducing impact on the earth's natural resources.
The American Alpine Club inspires and supports the climbing community and protects its playgrounds around the world. The AAC is perhaps best know for publishing the world's most sought-after annual climbing publication, The American Alpine Journal, caring for the world's leading mountaineering library and offering annual climbing, conservation and research grants to budding adventurers.
