Expert ski tips to make the most of your ski vacation!

Some informational tips from locals can make the difference between a great ski vacation and the best trip of your life. Our staff lives, works, skis and plays at each of our mountain destinations and can help you create an awesome ski getaway.

Below you will find expert ski tips from each of our mountain resort destinations as well as general planning tips for an unforgettable ski vacation.

Ski Tips

Take some time to read though our Expert Tips for your ski vacation. You will get the inside scoop on the best insider information that we offer to our guests to make your snow time even more memorable. From getting to the slopes early to free mountain tours, our properties offer the most incredible and spectacular skiing opportunities from coast to coast.

  • Get on the mountain at 8:30am or 9:00am (when the lifts open) to avoid the crowds.
  • Take a ski or snowboard lesson. Whether you want to learn a new sport, improve your skills, skip lift lines or just want to find the stashes that only the locals know, we cannot emphasize strongly enough what a difference this can make!
  • Enjoy an early lunch (before 11:00am) or a late lunch (after 1:00pm) to avoid the crowds at the on-mountain restaurants.
  • Take advantage of the FREE mountain tours - check with the front desk for meeting times and location.
  • Take a private lesson specializing in the terrain park and half-pipe tricks.
  • Book a private ski instructor for the family. A private instructor can accommodate up to six guests with different levels (although you may have to split up part of the day) and can be cheaper than group lessons!
  • Take a mountain tour on your first day of skiing - you'll learn the in's and out's of the mountain to make the most of your stay.
  • Avoid the hassles of bringing your skis and ship them ahead of time, or only bring your boots and rent skis on-site…save money at the airport, and time in the rental shop.
  • Take it easy the first day in the mountains to ensure the altitude does not affect you. It is advised to drink a lot of water, curtail alcohol and eat light meals during the first few days to ensure you acclimate well to the area.
  • Contact our concierge to set up babysitting one night and enjoy a romantic dinner.
  • Don't forget your swimsuits for the pool and/or hot tubs.
  • Each condominium has a fully equipped kitchen to make it convenient for in-house meals.
  • Stay an extra day to avoid long lines at the airport and increased traffic on the roads.
  • Call our concierge to book your reservations at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability.
  • Use the kitchen in your condominium and pack a "brown-bag" lunch to avoid on-mountain crowds and prices.
