Driving Instructions to The Gant

ALTERNATE ROUTES:

From westbound I-70: exit at US 40/Empire to State Highway 13 and back to I-70; exit in Silverthorne and take State Highway 9 to US 40 and State Highway 13; exit at Wolcott/State Highway 131 to US 40 and State Highway 13.

From eastbound I-70: exit at Rifle/State Highway 13 to US 40 and back to I-70. Travelers may also wish to use US highways 160, 285 and 50 if traveling to destinations south.

When you drive to Aspen from Denver, Eagle or Glenwood Springs via I-70 or Colorado Highway 82, you'll pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

From Aspen Airport

  • After leaving the airport, turn right on Highway 82. Stay on this road into town.
  • When you enter Aspen, you will take a sharp right, then a sharp left. You are now on Main Street.
  • Take Main Street through town. At the end of the street, follow the road around a right curve.
  • Go straight after the curve to the four-way stop and turn left onto Cooper Street.
  • Take the first right, which will be West End Street.
  • Follow West End three blocks until it ends. Turn left into the entrance of The Gant.
  • Take an immediate right into the first driveway, which leads to the lobby.

From Denver

  • Take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs.
  • Take #116 exit (Glenwood Springs/Aspen).
  • Turn right off the exit, then turn right at the first light and turn right again at the next light.
  • You will now be on Highway 82, going over a bridge across I-70 and the Colorado River.
  • Follow Highway 82 through Glenwood Springs all the way to Aspen (42 miles).

  • Follow this road through town. You are now on Highway 24. Continue 15 miles to the Twin Lakes/Independence Pass turnoff, which is Highway 82.
  • Follow Highway 82 over Independence Pass and into Aspen.
  • When you enter Aspen, you will go over a bridge across the Roaring Fork River.
  • Take the first left after the bridge, which will be West End Street (if you get to the four-way stop, you have gone one block too far).
  • Follow West End three blocks until it ends. Turn left into the entrance of The Gant.
  • Take an immediate right into the first driveway, which leads to the lobby.

From Eagle Airport

  • From Eagle Airport take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs.

PLEASE NOTE: Independence Pass is open only in the summer months, generally from Memorial Day Weekend through the end of September; however, snowfall may change these dates. While it is a paved 2-lane highway, in places it is extremely narrow, winding and exposed and should be driven cautiously.

From Montrose Airport

Distance to hotel - 69.1 Miles to 199 N. Cornet Lane

  1. Turn left from aiport onto N. Townsend Ave. (US-50).
  2. After one mile, N. Townsend becomes S.Townsend (US-550). Follow US-55- for 26.1 miles to Ridgway, CO.
  3. Turn right at light onto Main St. (SR-62) and follow 23.3 miles which turns into SR-145.
  4. Turn left onto SR-145 and follow 15.8 miles as it becomes Colorado Ave.
  5. Go straight on Colorado Ave. for 3.1 miles until Cornet St., the first street on the left in the Town of Telluride.

Driving Directions from Denver, CO: Route A - Through Gunnison via US-285

  1. Take I-70 West towards Grand Junction.
  2. From I-70, take Exit 260 towards Colorado Springs onto state interstate 470.
  3. From 470, take US-285 South towards Fairplay.
  4. Take US-285 through Fairplay towards Poncha Springs.
  5. At Poncha Springs, take US-50 West over Monarch Pass towards Gunnison.
  6. Take US-50 through Gunnison towards Montrose.
  7. At Montrose, take a left onto US-550 South (Townsend Avenue).
  8. Continue on US-550 towards Ridgway.
  9. At Ridgway, turn right onto Highway 62.
  10. After approximately a little over 20 miles, turn left onto Highway 145 towards Telluride.
  11. In Telluride, you will go straight through the traffic circle, and pass the high school on your left. Then take the next possible left onto N. Cornet Lane. The Hotel Telluride will be on your left.

Driving Directions from Denver, CO: Route B - Through Grand Junction via I-70

  1. Take I-70 West towards Grand Junction.
  2. Take I-70 through Glendwood Springs.
  3. Do not go to Grand Junction - you will bypass the city by going through Palisade.
  4. From I-70, take a left onto US-50 West.
  5. Take US-50 through Delta.
  6. At Montrose, US-50 becomes US-550 South (Townsend Avenue).
  7. Continue on US-550 towards Ridgway.
  8. At Ridgway, turn right onto Highway 62.
  9. After approximately a little over 20 miles, turn left onto Highway 145 towards Telluride.

  • Follow the round-about under the interstate and get off the round-about at Lionshead/South Frontage Road (if you miss this road, do not back up - continue around the round-about and you will come back to it)
  • Stay on the South Frontage Road heading west for approximately 3/4 mile
  • Turn left on West Lionshead Circle, located at the base of the pedestrian bridge that crosses the interstate
  • Take another left immediately into the parking lot in front of the Landmark building and drive to the east end of the parking lot
  • Check in at the Landmark Tower front desk

Directions from Eagle/Vail Airport:

Vail/Eagle County Airport is served by six major U.S. carriers with connections worldwide. The airport is located just 30 minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek, and 90 minutes from Keystone and Breckenridge via Interstate 70. Due to Eagle's mild climate, the airport is able to maintain an extremely consistent flight schedule, even in high season when the nearby mountains are filled with snow.

  • Take I-70 East approximately 40 miles
  • Exit the main Vail exit, #176. At the end of the exit ramp, take the turn off for Lionshead/South Frontage Road
  • Stay on the South Frontage Road heading west for approximately 3/4 mile
  • Turn left on West Lionshead Circle, located at the base of the pedestrian bridge that crosses the interstate
  • Take another left immediately into the parking lot in front of the Landmark building and drive to the east end of the parking lot

The resort is approximately 1.75 miles on the left.
  • From Eagle County Airport - Take I-70 East for approximately 40 minutes. Exit 173 (West Vail). Enter roundabout and follow signs to South Frontage Road/Vail Village/Lionshead. Follow the frontage road signs that direct you to the ‘Cascade Village.' The resort is located one mile on the right.

From Albuquerque International Sunport Airport

Exit Albuquerque International Sunport and follow the signs for I-25 North to Santa Fe. Continue on I-25 North for approximately 63 miles. Take Exit 282 - St. Francis Drive - and turn left on St. Francis Drive. Continue on St. Francis Drive approximately 4 miles and turn right on West Alameda Street.

Remain on West Alameda Street until you reach Old Santa Fe Trail (third light). Turn left on Old Santa Fe Trail, where you will see the entrance to Inn and Spa at Loretto on your right.

Sunriver Resort is easy to get to. The Bend/Redmond airport (45 minutes north of Sunriver) is served by United Airlines/United Express and Alaska Airlines/Horizon connecting through Portland, San Francisco and Seattle with direct flights to all major US cities. Direct flights are also available from Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Getting here is simple. Leaving, well, that's the difficult part.

From Burlington International Airport

Follow Airport Drive and turn left onto US-2/Williston Road. Turn Right onto VT-2A/St. George Road and follow for approximately 1 mile. Merge onto I-89 S for approximately 20 miles. Take exit 10 (Stowe/Waterbury) and turn left onto VT-100N. Follow this for 11 miles until you reach the flashing stop light. This is the center of Stowe Village. Make a left at the stop sign onto route 108N (Mountain Road), and follow this for approximately 7.5 miles up the mountain. Stowe Mountain Lodge will be on your right-hand side. Please call 802-253-3560 to arrange for private airport transfer services. Taxi services and car rentals are also available at the airport.

From Boston

Take Interstate 93 North to Concord, NH and then follow signs to connect with Interstate 89 North. Follow 89N through NH and into Vermont until you get to exit 10 (Stowe / Waterbury exit). Make a right at the end of the exit ramp; this is route 100N. Follow this for 11 miles until you reach the flashing stop light. This is the center of Stowe Village. Make a left at the stop sign onto route 108N. Continue up mountain road past the Spruce Peak/Stowe Mountain Resort entrance on the right. Stowe Mountain Lodge will be on your right.

From Providence, RI

Take Interstate 95 North in Providence and follow it to Interstate 93 North outside of Boston. Continue on with the directions from Boston listed above.

From Montreal

Follow highway 10 East to highway 35 South. Take 35 South to Iberville and then pick up route 133 south and follow it to the to the US / Canada border. Next follow Interstate 89 South to exit 10 (Waterbury / Stowe exit). At the end of the exit ramp, make a left onto Route 100 North. Follow this for 11 miles until you reach your first stop sign. This is the center of Stowe Village. Make a left at the stop sign onto route 108N. Continue up mountain road past the Spruce Peak/Stowe Mountain Resort entrance on the right. Stowe Mountain Lodge will be on your right-hand side.

From Albany

Follow Interstate 87 North to exit 20 (Fort Ann exit). Follow signs for route 149 East and take this to Fort Ann NY. At the light in Fort Ann, make a left onto route 4 East and stay with this until you reach Rutland Vermont. Once in Rutland, you will have to join route 7 North for a few miles until you can rejoin route 4 East again. Look for signs that direct you back onto route 4 East after about 2-3 miles. Take route 4 East to route 100N and then route 107 North. This will take you to Interstate 89. Join 89 North at this point and take this to exit 10 (Follow this for 11 miles until you reach your first stop sign. This is the center of Stowe Village. Make a left at the stop sign onto route 108N. Continue up mountain road past the Spruce Peak/Stowe Mountain Resort entrance on the right. Stowe Mountain Lodge will be on your right-hand side.

From New York City, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C.

Follow Interstate 95 North to New Haven CT where you will connect with Interstate 91 North. Follow 91N through Hartford, across Massachusetts, and up to White River Junction, VT. Follow signs to connect with Interstate 89 North and take that to exit 10 (Waterbury / Stowe exit). Make a right at the end of the exit ramp onto route 100N and follow this for 11 miles until you reach your first stop sign. This is the center of Stowe Village. Make a left at the stop sign onto route 108N. Continue up mountain road past the Spruce Peak/Stowe Mountain Resort entrance on the right. Stowe Mountain Lodge will be on your right-hand side.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From Seattle: Drive east on I-90 for approximately 80 miles to the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit (exit 80). Turn left at the exit onto Bullfrog Road and follow the signs to Suncadia.

From Sea-Tac Airport: Follow signs for I-405 north. Proceed until the I-90 interchange and take I-90 east toward Spokane. Continue east on I-90 for approximately 80 miles to the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit (exit 80). Turn left at the exit onto Bullfrog Road and follow the signs to Suncadia.

From Spokane: Drive west on I-90 for approximately 215 miles to the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit (exit 80). Turn right at the exit onto Bullfrog Road and follow the signs to Suncadia.

From Portland: Drive North on I-5 into Washington state. Take exit 142A to merge onto WA-18 east toward North Bend/ Auburn. Continue on Hwy 18 for approximately 28 miles then merge onto I-90 east via the ramp to Spokane. Continue east on I-90 for approximately 55 miles to the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit (exit 80). Turn left at the exit onto Bullfrog Road and follow the signs to Suncadia.

From Vancouver, British Columbia: Take Provincial Route 99 (crossing into Washington). Provincial Route 99 becomes I-5 South, follow for approximately 90 miles. Merge onto I-405 South and proceed until the I-90 interchange, take I-90 East toward Spokane. Follow I-90 for approximately 80 miles to the Roslyn/Salmon La Sac exit (exit 80). Turn left at the exit onto Bullfrog Road and follow the signs to Suncadia.
