Iron Chef, Kid’s Café – Creating Our New Healthy Kids Menu

Destination Hotels & Resorts ~

We are live at Kitchen Stadium “Inverness” where the Destination Hotels & Resorts Executive Chefs and F&B Directors from Destination restaurants across the country are competing, Iron Chef style.

The Challenge: create a new kids menu full of healthy selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The winning dishes will be used at all Destination Hotels & Resorts restaurants across the country.

The Judges: A panel of 6 spunky kids, that are ready to chow!  Winners are determined by the kids raising paddles that say “Gross, Icky, Yummy and Delicious!”

The Stadium is setup with all sorts of healthy ingredients for the chefs to choose from.   The teams are picking out all of their ingredients now in preparation for the cook off in 20 mins.  Ingredients they can select from: Tons of fruits and vegetables, pastas, meats, cheeses and of course Peanut Butter!

Let the cooking begin!  Chefs now have an hour to work on their healthy kids menu items… and they need to be tasty to satisfy the panel of judges.  We have chefs from Del Mar’s Kitchen 1540, Chapel Hill’s Carolina Crossroads, Austin’s The Driskill Grill, Santa Fe’s Luminaria and many more…  The knives are feverishly chopping and dicing fruits and vegetables, the blenders are cranking, the pots are boiling and the pans are sizzling…
