Composting at the Madison
It didn’t take long for The Madison hotel in Washington DC to figure out how to master Destination Earth. After only a few months of being introduced to Destination Earth, The Madison partnered with EnviRelation, a local composting company, to collect and compost food scraps from the hotel.
The hotel has been generating about one ton of composting every two weeks. At this rate, the hotel will divert approximately 24 tons of waste from the landfill every year! In addition to diverting waste from landfills, composting at hotels also provides cleaner loading dock areas, improved garbage odors and clean composting containers which in turn attracts fewer pests.
